The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE INCONSISTENT CHRISTIAN IS ONE OF THE DEVIL’S BEST WORKERS.*
Good Friday, yes today is the actually Good Friday where we take time to remember the depth of God’s unconditional love for us. The one whose birth we celebrated at Christmas is the one whose death we honor today at the foot of the cross. Selfless and sacrificial love is at the heart of God reaching out to each of us while we are still dead in our sinful ways. Jesus, God in the flesh, willing stood in our place to accept the penalty for our sins. Once that debt is paid, we have the opportunity to accept God’s gift of cleansing grace and become a faith-filled and faithful follower of Jesus. The scriptures clearly state that when we believe and confess, we receive the gift of eternal life in Heaven. That is something to be thankful for and something to share with others.
In our pick verse today, John concludes this short synopsis of the effect God should have in our lives. To identify believers as Kings and priests reflects a conditional promise God made to Israel at the foot of Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:5, 6). This promise has now been fulfilled through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This dual “title” given to all believers denotes the change of status Jesus has made in our lives (king) and indicates our responsibility of ministry we have to others (priests). Being a follower of Christ comes with requirements and expectations for our conduct and our attitude. To be obedient is our way of honoring the sacrifice of Jesus.
