Tuesday – April 11th – Revelation 1:10 -----
1:10) I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE POWER OF MAN CAN NEVER REVERSE THE SENTENCE OF GOD.*
Happy Tuesday to you! What a great inspirational thought for us to ponder this day. One of the ways the devil constantly tempts us is to want us to believe that we humans have power and control over all things around us. In some small ways we can contribute to what happens in our lives and our surroundings, but to go as far as saying that we have the absolute power to control those things is simply narcissistic. The only thing that I have discovered that I have complete and absolute control over is my attitude. When things are not going my way I can either try to force my will on others (usually very ineffective in either the short or long term) or I can work on an attitude adjustment. A new and fresh attitude typically reveals to me what is God’s will for this situation, and then how God will use me going forward. Where might an attitude adjustment on your part make the difference in struggling through a situation or being blessed because you follow along the path God provides?
In our pick verse today, John records the beginning portion of his revelation from God. John’s being “in the spirit” is best defined as being in a state of deep absorption or exaltation resulting from inspiration by and through the Holy Spirit. When John uses the term the “Lord’s Day”, he is referring to Sunday which by 90AD gradually replaced the Sabbath as the Christian day for worship because the celebration of the resurrection was tied to that day of the week. Jesus calling John with a loud voice is very reminiscent to how God called the Old Testament prophets. With the same authority as the divinely anointed prophets of old, John is ready to share his New Testament version of “thus says the Lord”.
Blessings
