Thursday – April 20th – Revelation 1:20 -----
1:20) The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WEALTH IN ITSELF IS NEUTRAL. WHAT WE DO WITH IT IS NOT.*
Howdy to Thursday! Today’s inspirational thought is a great reminder of God’s perspective on what we are to do with the blessings we receive from Him. Wealth, skills, talents, and possessions are in and of themselves, as the inspirational thought states, neutral. They exists as blessings from God and their real worth is only valued in how we choose to use them. If our use, and/or abuse, are merely carried out for our own satisfaction then we have missed what God had intended. If we use them to bring glory to God and serve other people then, as the Bible states, we will be blessed with even greater responsibilities. How are you using what God has blessed you with?
In our pick verse today, John concludes this first chapter of his vision by recording the words of Jesus concerning both the seven stars and seven golden lampstands in His possession. The stars and angels are representative of the church that is protected in Jesus’ right hand. The right side/hand of a king was considered a position of honor. In one of His parables Jesus talked of separating the goats on His left and the sheep on His right as a way of acknowledging the faithfulness of the sheep. The lampstands depict the church manifesting Jesus’s presence in the world. Some biblical scholars also suggest that the angels represent the pastors of the seven churches.
