Friday – April 21st – Revelation – Intro to Chapter 2     -----

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SINCE WE FIGHT FOR THE LIBERTY TO WORSHIP, SHOULD WE NOT MAKE MORE USE OF THAT LIBERTY?*

Hello to you Friday! Our inspirational thought is well timed as we move into the weekend. Here in the United States brave men and women have given their lives so that we might enjoy freedoms not always found elsewhere around the world. One of the things that we are insured of in our country is being granted the freedom to worship God in whatever way and wherever we so desire. Through the divine providence of God attending worship is a choice for us to make each and every week. How often do you embrace the liberty God has provided you to worship Him?

Yes, the next couple of chapters are so important to understanding the intent of Jesus’ words to the seven churches (and contain important keys to the rest of the book) that I wanted to give a general overview before we jumped into the specific content itself. These seven letters follow a similar pattern of commendation for faithfulness (except of Laodicea), criticism for actions/inactions (except for Smyrna and Philadelphia), a call to repentance, a threat of judgement, and a promise of reward to all who respond. In chapter one John goes to great extent to validate that the actual author of these word is Jesus. He is speaking to those who have accepted His sacrifice and His triumph over the cross and death, but who are currently failing in spiritual maturity and/or faithfulness. These seven letters have easily stood the test of time as they carry words relevant to churches and disciples today.

Blessings
