Monday – April 24th – Revelation 2:4 ----
1:4) “But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first!
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
IN A HEART IN WHICH GOD IS ENTHRONED AS KING, THERE LIES A GLIMPSE OF HEAVEN.*
Yes, my friends today is Monday and the beginning of the last full week of the month of April. All those showers are about to transition into flowers – well at least the ones that didn’t freeze out yesterday morning. What a great inspirational thought for us to begin our new week. One of the things folks seem to be most interested about is what Heaven will be like. There are only a handful of suggestions of Heaven composition in the Bible. Plus, we humans are great at developing our own popular theology to describe what Heaven must be like. However, our inspirational thought gives us the best insight available on this side of the pearly gates. If God’s word, God’s will, God’s way, and God’s when is an intimate part of your daily existence then you are living fully in the pre-eminence of life in Heaven. We are surrounded every moment by the glory of God and thus we ground our earthly existence in the awe of the creator, redeemer, and sustainer. As a believer we are glimpsing at the best Heaven has to offer.
In our pick verse today, Jesus moves from words of commendation for the church at Ephesus to His words of criticism. Although the Ephesians hated that which was evil, they no longer gave God first place in their lives. Nor did they reflect His love to others as they should be doing for an effective ministry of witness. In other words, they have lost their first love and lost the excitement that motivates people to stay in love. We probably have all seen it happen, and might have experienced it ourselves, a person has a powerful experience of Jesus in their lives and are on fire for the Lord. Then, as regular life happens, and the distractions of the evil one come at us, we allow our passion and zeal for the Lord to be replaced with the pursuit of things of this world. While we still may go through the motions of “churchy” things, we are operating without the love we once had for what Jesus has done to save our soul. Jesus wants to ask if you are still in love with Him, or are you simply playing church?
Blessings
