Sunday – April 30th – Revelation 2:10     -----

2:10) Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
BETTER TO MASTER ONE MOUNTAIN THAN A THOUSAND FOOTHILLS.*

Happy Sunday to you! Today we close out the fourth month of April. I had someone much younger than me make the classic statement that this year is going by fast. Yes, busy people with busy lives seem to mark off the days on their calendars much faster than those with free space in their day planners and a slower pace to their walk. Our inspirational thought is a great reminder that the best use of our time, energy, and efforts is to focus on those things of importance. We all have those “little” things in life that can easily fill our days, evenings, and even our nights, and often they can delay our tackling something really big and challenging. What in your life will require you to redirect your focus so you can climb a mountain for God?

In our pick verse today, Jesus encourages the believers in Smyrna as they face challenges and pushback in their Christian witness. Overcoming this brief period of tribulation and living contently within the scope of their material poverty will ultimately bring about the occasion for them to prove their faithfulness and thus gain the promise of eternal life in Heaven. Jesus states this persecution will last for only a short period. God never lets His people be tested beyond what they can bear. For some, faithfulness will mean physical death, but they should take courage because they will certainly receive the crown of eternal life as their reward. How much are we willing to risk for the reward of eternal life and the opportunity to be a witness to others?

Blessings
