Hello To Tuesday! Here is today’s calendar reminder for a busy Saturday at SunRise. The Twin Chimneys parking lot will be filled with the sights of awesome cars, trucks, and motorcycles as we host out monthly Cars and Coffee from 8am – 10am. Held on the first Saturday of each month through October car enthusiasts from all over the metro area converge on SunRise to proudly display their cars, or some come to spend a couple of hours walking around and think “what if”. Admission is free to join all the fun and activities. Non-show car parking is in the McClure lot on the north side of the SunRise building. The weather forecast for Saturday is perfect for outdoor fun.
In our pick verse today, Jesus now directs His attention to the church in Pergamum. For you geography buffs, Pergamum is located in modern day Turkey sixteen miles inland from the Aegean Sea overlooking the Bakir River. Pergamum is located approximately 115 miles north and east of the city of Ephesus. In his opening words, Jesus identifies Himself as the one with the sharp double edged sword. All should stand in awe and fear of the two-edged sword of Jesus’ judgement rather than the sword of the persecutors of believers. With His sword Christ will judge the false teachers of every generation. We should never discount the judgement of Jesus when it comes to those who intentionally chose to sin and fall away from God.
