Wednesday – May 3rd – Revelation 2:13 -----
2:13) “I know that you live in the city where Satan has his throne, yet you have remained loyal to me. You refused to deny me even when Antipas, my faithful witness, was martyred among you there in Satan’s city.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE WOULD WORRY LESS ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK OF US IF WE REALIZED HOW SELDOM THEY DO.*
Welcome to Wednesday! And part three of our full Saturday event schedule. We will also be filling volunteer spots for our quarterly Serve Saturday outreach ministries. Options are available both in buildings and at various off-campus locations. One of the areas of greatest need is helping with the SunRise Family Ministry garage sale on Saturday morning. What a great opportunity to serve and also get a first look at the treasures you want to take home. For all of the options to serve go to the SunRise Events page on either the website or the app to sign up.
In our pick verse today, Jesus continues His recognition of the faithful service the believers in Pergamum. It was not a stretch for Jesus to state that these believers lived in the city where Satan had his throne. The center of Pergamum was on a large hill covered with pagan temples, some of which were used in worship of the Roman emperor. These believers remained faithful even when one of their leaders, Antipas, was martyred by those who opposed Christianity in the city. The Greek word translated as “martyr” is also sometimes translated as “witness”. Those designated by this term in the book of Revelation where those who died for their testimony of faith.
Blessings
