2:16) Repent of your sin, or I will come to you suddenly and fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
PRAYER CAN DO ANYTHING GOD CAN DO.*

Happy Friday to you! What a great inspirational thought for today. Prayer is our primary means of communication with God. The other means is, of course, reading the Bible. Prayer gives us the opportunity to let God know what we are thankful for, our needs for the day, and our petitions for others. When we pray in God’s will then we can be assured that our prayers will be answered according to God’s design. The challenge many of us have in our prayer life is that we are not always praying God’s will, but more often than not we are trying to convince God to do our will. If that is how we pray than we will often be disappointed in how God answers. But when our prayers align with the will of God than they can accomplish anything God can do, because it is mirroring what God wants. How might that change your prayer life today?

In our pick verse today, Jesus gives his instructions to the believers in Pergamum on how to right their wrong actions. While it may seem simple for us to read that they need to repent of their sins, the action that is required to accomplish can be very challenging. The longer we allow sin to fester in our lives the more it becomes rooted and harder to remove. The act of repentance was a necessary remedy for the individual to remove sin in the early apostolic church and is still in effect for believers today. In this verse Jesus also makes it clear that a failure to repent and change their ways will result in Him taking drastic action against the Church. Jesus who has demonstrated the ability to lovingly save souls also has the responsibility for disciplined judgement.
