Tuesday – May 16th – Revelation 3:2-3     -----

3:2) Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.
3) Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
OF ALL THE DEVIL’S TOOLS FOR MAKING US MISERABLE, DISCOURAGEMENT IS HIS FINEST AND MOST FREQUENTLY USED.*

Happy Tuesday to you! What a timely inspirational thought today. In the Daily Walk Bible, we are beginning our reading through the Old Testament book of Job. Nowhere else in the Old Testament is there such a clear picture of the nature and activity of the devil when he works to disrupt Job’s faith. Discouragement is a real part of life for many Christians. We can become easily discouraged when our expectations go unfulfilled, or our prayers remain unanswered. The devil knows exactly what temptations to put in our path that can create frustration and discouragement, that then leads to even greater sins. Hold on to the truth that God always has our best interest in mind and that all things work out for good that bring glory to God.

In our pick verses today, Jesus continues his criticism of the believers in Sardis. They are a dead church, dead in their faith, death in their witness, dead in their community outreach, dead in their personal spiritual growth. The believers are challenged by Jesus to be more watchful of what the need to do. Carelessness can cost us the gift of eternal life. Jesus warns them that unless they repent, He will come to them as a thief in the night. Twice the nearly impregnable city of Sardis had been captured by enemies because in carelessness, they posted no guard. Jesus will come just as unexpectedly and judge the church in Sardis. The call to repent was in fact a command to remember their attitudes and works when they first found Christ. With each church listed, we are given the opportunity to reflect on our own personal commitment to Christ and see where we might need to improve.
