Saturday – May 27th – Revelation 3:15 -----
3:15) I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MOST OF OUR SUSPICIONS OF OTHERS ARE AROUSED BY OUR KNOWLEDGE OF OURSELVES.*
Yes, it is Saturday, and for that the last Saturday in May and the start of a holiday weekend. Even with the pull of all the things to do outside and away from home this weekend my hope is that your plans include time for worship. This weekend at SunRise we continue our teaching series on “The Incredible Absolutes”. This will be the seventh week of our discussing the non-negotiables of the Christian faith. Our topic this week is the Second Coming of Christ. Join us for worship in the SunRise building at 8am or 9:45am. If you are traveling, our livestream service is at 9:45am with on-demand availability anytime after 11am Sunday.
In our pick verse today, Jesus lays out the complaint He has against the believers in the church of Laodicea. Jesus draws His illustration from their geographically challenged situation of being located between a hot spring and a cold river. These believers have become so complacent in their discipleship growth that they are neither hot nor cold. They are what I title as the “whatever” church. If you have ever had a conversation with a person and their answers to your questions are “whatever”, you can probably relate to Jesus’ frustration with the believers in this church. Does your personal commitment to spiritual growth get a “whatever” answer? Be prepared tomorrow for Jesus’ tough answer to the church in Laodicea.
Blessings
Pastor Jim
Sunday – May 28th – Revelation 3:16
