Sunday – May 28th – Revelation 3:16 -----
3:16) So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE FIRE OF GOD IN YOUR HEART WILL MELT THE LEAD IN YOUR FEET.*
Hooray for Sunday! Our inspirational thought for today reminds me of the challenge of the season we are now entering. My experience is that when the weather begins to warm and outside activities are on the increase, the devil is quick to throw temptation our way to correspondingly “cool” our church activities. We may not immediately realize it is temptation, because temptation never comes with a billboard warning sign announcing its approach. Instead, the temptation of summer cooling arrives with an ever-increasing number of activities on the calendar and the seemingly reactionary decrease in our opportunity to spend time with God. See how simple and innocent that works – the devil is a master of deception. When we can keep the fire of God burning in our hearts the lead in our feet is no longer an issue.
In our pick verse today, Jesus levels his judgment against the believers in Laodicea if they fail to reignite the fire in their hearts for God. It is often easier to reach the cold unbeliever that to stir the content lukewarm Christian who has a form of religion but no real commitment to Jesus or who lives under the power of the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, Jesus will judge the lukewarm believer if they do not repent. In His own words He gives us the image of vomiting us out of His mouth – which includes out from the Kingdom of Heaven. As a geographical reminder, the mineral hot springs outside Laodicea produced therapeutic waters while the cold water on the other side of town provided refreshment for the body, but the lukewarm water in town would make a person sick to death.
Blessings
