Friday – June 16th – Revelation 4:6 -----
4:6) In front of the throne was a shiny sea of glass, sparkling like crystal. In the center and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front and back.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE MORE WE COUNT THE BLESSINGS WE HAVE, THE LESS WE CRAVE THE LUXURIES WE HAVEN’T.*
Happy Friday to you! Wow what a perfect and timely inspirational thought for us today. I am sure I am not in the minority in saying that living in an upper middle class zip code is chalked full of temptations to add possessions to the abundant possessions we already possess. The inspirational thought is a great reminder to spend time appreciating what we do have and not daydream about what we don’t have. We are all familiar with the old saying that the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. A wise person once added to this by saying – yet it is still just grass. As one of the great old hymns suggests, spend some time today counting your blessings one by one.
In our pick verse for today, John now describes what he is seeing in front of the great throne of God. Glass was very rare in New Testament times, and crystal-clear galls were virtually impossible to find. This glass/crystal image highlights both the magnificence and holiness of God. The four living creatures possibly symbolize the entire created universe worshiping its Creator. For John, the creatures may have represented the “the four corners of the earth”. Another possible interpretation maintains that the creatures represent high-ranking angelic beings whose sole purpose are worshiping God. You will quickly discover that there are multiple interpretations for the descriptions and events throughout this book. The best path to follow is to remember when we get to Heaven all things will be made clear.
Blessings
