Saturday – June 17th – Revelation 4:7 -----
4:7) The first of these living beings was like a lion; the second was like an ox; the third had a human face; and the fourth was like an eagle in flight.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
YOU CANNOT STARVE A PERSON WHO IS FEEDING ON GOD’S PROMISES.*
Hello Saturday! Last Sunday we concluded “The Incredible Absolutes” series here at SunRise, which means a new series starts this weekend. One of the most important things any current church member can do is to lay the groundwork for future generations of believers. What we do now will create a lasting legacy for those who come behind us. Sometimes it is a great legacy that will cause future generations to look back and call us faithful. At other times we can become so self-absorbed in the here and now that our decisions (or lack of decisions) will create havoc for those who follow us into the church. In this case it is not “faithful” that they will celebrate but “fateful” that they will have to endure. This series, “The Next Generation”, will give us an opportunity today to plan for tomorrow. Join us in the building or online!
In our pick verse today, John begins to describe in more detail the four creatures at the foot of the throne of God. The imagery of these creatures is very similar to the creatures found in the Old Testament book of Ezekiel (1:5-10). However, in Ezekiel’s vision each of the creatures had four faces while John’s only one face. While God used Ezekiel’s vision to show the destruction of Jerusalem as punishment for Judah’s sins, John’s living beings will show him the final destruction of the world as the punishment for all unrepented sin. The presence and appearance of these four creatures symbolized the highest expression of God’s attributes – majesty and power (lion), faithfulness (ox), intelligence (humanity), and sovereignty (eagle). More proof that God is the creator and ruler of all that exists.
Blessings
