Monday – June 19th – Revelation 4:9-10a     -----

4:9) Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever),
10) the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever).

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WHERE THE BENEFITS RECEIVED ARE INFINITE, THE PRAISES CANNOT BE TOO EXTRAVAGANT.*

Happy Monday and first day of Vacation Bible School 2023! There is nothing more exciting in the church’s annual calendar that VBS. I didn’t have the opportunity growing up to experience VBS, so my first time was as a classroom leader for 5th graders my first year in ministry. Talk about being in over my head, I didn’t know very much about VBS, or 5th graders, and to make matters even more challenging it was composed of a cooperative group of churches from the west side of the Lake of the Ozarks (only one student was from my church). Now some thirty-seven years later I fully understand that this is a prime opportunity for the church to introduce our children to the love of Jesus, and then to nurture them to grow in their young faith. What is really exciting is that along the way the youth helpers and adult volunteers are adding to their faith journey. Please be praying for the 200+ people who will be on campus this week learning about and loving like Jesus.

In our pick verses today, John’s heavenly vision of the throne room of God, expands to include the twenty-four elders who were first mentioned in verse four. Now in verse nine they join with the living creatures to create a heavenly choir with one perfect song that praises God’s holiness and sovereignty over all of creation. God’s throne symbolizes His power and authority and Him being worthy of all praise. As an act of complete submission and adoration the twenty-four elders step away from their thrones and fall prostrate before the throne of God. God is far more worthy of receiving our worship than any human person because He lives forever and ever. This scene in Heaven should have a great impact on how we worship God from now on.

Blessings
