Tuesday – June 20th – Revelation 4:10b-11     -----

4:10b) And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,
 11) “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
USE THE PAST AS A SPRINGBOARD, NOT A SOFA.*

Welcome to Tuesday! What a deep inspirational thought for us today. We all know someone who can be very hesitant about attempting new things in life. Often their concern centers around the fear of failure. Who among us doesn’t take time to calculate the success or failure rate before we launch into a new adventure or make a major decision in our life. Sometimes folks will become paralyzed by the fear of failure and live their lives on the short side of trying. I have also experienced people who are equally fearful of success. Their fear is that if they achieve success then more will be expected from them. They become paralyzed and live a life absence from trying. However, in either case we must remember we have God on our side, and we can do all things through Him who strengthens us. Get off the sofa and spring into action for the Kingdom of Heaven.

In our pick verses today, we warp the fourth chapter of John’s revelation. The action of the twenty-four elders laying their crowns at the throne symbolize that all people, nations, kingdoms, and languages are subservient to God. These verses also record the second hymn sung in Revelation. This hymn focuses on praising God for His mighty works of creation and His power over all that exists. Some biblical scholars believe that the book of Revelation was, in part, written in code that disparaged the Rome Empire without their knowing it was happening. The opening phrase of verse eleven is such a case. The phrase “You Are Worthy”, was often used to herald the entrance of an emperor when he came in his triumphal procession. Later, emperor Domitian added the phrase “our Lord and God” as a reference to himself, thereby promoting the cult of emperor worship. Christians, however, refused to give such acknowledgement to any human being and instead acknowledged and worshiped through this hymn the one true Lord and God.
