5:1) And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.

Happy Wednesday to you! Today we hit the mid part of our week, but of equal importance we arrive at the midpoint of our 2023 edition of SunRise Vacation Bible school. These first two day have been “stellar” as the kids, youth, and adults are exploring the vastness of God’s creation while at the same time being reminded of the intricacy of God investing in each of our individual creation moments. Please continue to keep all of the moving parts of VBS in your prayers for the remainder of this week. You are always invited to drop by and see the fun firsthand.
Our pick verse today, from the opening of chapter five, continues John’s reporting of His glimpse into Heaven which began in chapter four. The one sitting on the throne is the spirit of the triune God who is holding a scroll in His right hand. This scroll contained God’s perfect and ultimate plan for His creation which will be revealed within the remaining chapters of Revelation: judgement on the wicked, deliverance for the righteous, and establishment of His kingdom. The seven seals prevented any created being from opening the scroll and knowing or putting God’s plan into effect outside of God’s perfect timing. John’s notation that the scroll was written on both front and back indicate that God’s plan was detailed and perfect to accomplish God’s purpose for humanity.
