Saturday – June 24th – Revelation 5:5 -----
5:5)But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals."
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MARTIN LUTHER SAID, “I HAVE DONE NOTHING; THE WORD HAS DONE AND ACCOMPLISHED EVERYTHING.”*
Happy Saturday to you! Tomorrow is our second installment of our new series “The Next Generation”. How appropriate that this comes at the end of our Vacation Bible School week where the next generation of church leaders were being filled with song, scripture, and the light of Jesus. This week the series will focus on Joash, who was the youngest of the kings of Judah. Come learn how he ended up sitting on the throne at age seven and how he learned quickly to rely on the wise counsel of those around him. Worship is at 8am and 9:45 (includes our kids leading in two VBS songs). Livestream worship is at 9:45am with on-demand available at your best worshipping time.
In our pick verse today, John’s sadness because of the absence of anyone worthy to open the scroll of God quickly turns to rejoicing as Jesus steps forward. The elder speaking to John uses the terms “Lion of Judah” and “Root of David” as indicators for the earthly linage of Jesus and that he indeed is the promised Messiah. By His death and resurrection Jesus has “prevailed” over sin and death, and therefore is the only one able to open the scroll. Jesus, being God in the flesh, lived His life free from the burden of sin, although tempted He was able to resist and thus fulfil the role of worthy opener of the scroll.
Blessings
