Tuesday June 27th – Revelation 5:9-10 -----
5:9) And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10) And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth."
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
PRAYER IS A SHIELD TO THE SOUL, A SACRIFICE TO GOD, AND A SCOURGE FOR SATAN.*
Happy Tuesday to you! Our inspirational thought today gave me a pause as I read it this morning. I would think that many of us, me included, would immediately think of prayer as our way of letting God know the requests of our hearts. But the inspirational thought reminds me that prayer has an equal effect of providing protection for our soul and is a weapon of spiritual warfare against the evil one. When we pray, we are pouring boiling oil on the plans of the devil. The devil has no room to operate behind the scenes when we lay a perimeter of prayer around others and ourselves. Yes, we can ask God for the things we need and as an intercession for others, but don’t forget to let your prayers poke the devil so that it might completely disrupts the plans of hell.
In our pick verses today, the heavenly choirs once again raise their voices as Jesus takes the sacred scroll from the throne of Heaven. While the words of these two verses have not graced the pages of catchy contemporary choruses, they do contain the full understand of Jesus’ victory over sin and death. We know that Jesus is worthy because His work successfully redeemed us for the ways of this world. In so doing Jesus has already pre-qualified us to be kings and priests to God in the heavenly realms. However, to assume these titles we must wait until Jesus returns and assumes His official reign over the new Heaven and earth as foretold at the end of this book. When we all get to Heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be!
