Tuesday – July 4th – Revelation 6:5     -----

6:5) When the Lamb broke the third seal, I heard the third living being say, “Come!” I looked up and saw a black horse, and its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD WRITES WITH A PEN THAT NEVER BLOTS, SPEAKS WITH A TONGUE THAT NEVER SLIPS, AND ACTS WITH A HAND THAT NEVER FAILS.*

Happy 4th of July! Today we have the opportunity to celebrate the blessings of freedom and independence as a nation and as individuals. At times it may seem we take one for granted while overextending the personal application of the other. I was reminded the other day that while independence is a wonderful and sought after thing for individuals, we should still seek a relationship with Jesus that places our full dependence on Him. Human nature’s resistance to depending on others increases the challenge we have in witnessing to the power and protection that can only come from God. Enjoy celebrating today, but also enjoy letting God be the one who leads you in life and in decisions.

In our pick verse today, John witnesses the third seal being opened by the Lamb. This time John sees a black horse with a rider holding a pair of scales used for weighing out food portions. The horse represents God sending famine and pestilence throughout the earth as the next stage of judgement on a sinful and unrepentant world. Coming on the heels of the red horse of war, the black horse of famine represents the natural flow from the effects of war that brings about sorrow and desolation because it leaves people without money or food. The order of these events will most certainly be interrupted by those on earth and dismissed as natural occurrences, and not as an act of God in His attempt to redeem their souls.
