Friday – July 14th – Revelation 7 introduction ------
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT, BUT IT IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM WHAT THEY HAVE.*
Hello to Friday! Our inspirational thought for today is a powerful reminder of the ongoing tension between our fallen humanity and God’s perfect divinity. The pull of the evil one in our lives is the temptation to never be satisfied with what we possess. There is always something newer, something improved, something shinier, something fancier, something more advanced, and/or something we deserve more than what we have now. If we find ourselves falling into the age-old adage of trying to stay up with the Jones, or Smiths, or whomever lives within our eyesight - then my advice is to either move to a secluded mountaintop or immerse ourselves into the peace that comes from scripture. What is the devil parading before you right now to make you wish for something different?
In today’s journey through the book of Revelation we come to chapter seven. As we enter deeper into the sometimes mysterious and confusing aspects of this book, today seems like a good spot to take a moment to summarize and then set the stage for the next chapter. We will quickly discover that chapter seven is an intentional interlude between the opening of the sixth seal (conclusion of chapter six) and the opening of the seventh seal (chapter eight). In this chapter, John sees an innumerable throng of people before the throne of God, loudly proclaiming in chorus, “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb”. Just when destruction seemed certain with the coming of the seventh seal, God paused the completion of His plan until He had marked His people as His own. This chapter answers the question “who is able to stand” of which we will discover over the next seventeen verses that the faithful believers in Jesus would be forever kept safe.
Blessings
