FAITH IS DEAD TO DOUBT, DUMB TO DISCOURAGEMENT, BLIND TO IMPOSSIBILITIES.*
Happy Sunday to you! What a great and encouraging inspirational thought for us today. Of all the things we can possess in this life or even request from God in our prayers the number one thing on the top of both of those lists is “faith”. Our response to God’s unbelievable act of love and generosity extended to us requires us to accept it through faith. The answer to every situation in life must first be filtered through the lens of faith in God’s power and promise. Our ability to stay connected to God’s word, God’s way, God’s will, and God’s when is buoyed through our faith and trust that God knows better than any one of us individually or collectively. Life today with a faith that God has already taken care of tomorrow and, most importantly, your eternity.
In our pick verse today, John continues to describe the events in Heaven as the seventh, and last seal on the scroll of destiny is opened in the throne room of God. John now observes that the seven angels who stand in the presence of God are each handed a trumpet. These trumpets represent the seven plagues that God will send on the wicked before the end of the world and their eventual judgement in front of God. As John’s vision continues from this point forward the intensity of the wrath of God becomes far greater than in the events described in the previous scrolls opened in John’s presence. If there was someone standing on a street corner with a sign stating the “end is near”, for once they would be spot on.
