Wednesday – July 26th – Revelation 8:6-7 -----
8:6) So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
7) The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD CAN DO MORE IN A MOMENT THAN PEOPLE COULD IN A MILLENNIUM.*
Hello Wednesday! Our inspirational thought for today goes hand in hand with our readings from the book of Revelation. God’s power and ability should never be underestimated in whatever situation we may face in life. The wisdom in this inspirational thought is grounded in our trusting the God of all creation. Yet, the sad thing is that we humans will do our level best to push God out of the way so we can solve situations ourselves. I am hoping that age and added wisdom will help shift me in the direction of starting with God instead of eventually turning to God.
And so, begins the beginning of the end. John’s vision becomes focused on the actions of the seven angels holding the seven trumpets. The disasters following each of the first four trumpets recall the plagues that God sent on the Egyptians in the book of Exodus. The hail and fire, the water turning into blood, and the darkness over the land represent the power of God over the forces of nature. God restrained these judgements so that only one third of the trees were affected so that people would have opportunity to believe in God and repent of their sins.
Blessings
