Friday – July 28th – Revelation 8:10-11     -----

8:10) Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.
11) The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A PERSON SHOULD GIVE A LOT OF THOUGHT TO A SUDDEN DECISION.*

Happy Friday to you!  Today’s public service reminder is about our quarterly Serve Saturday mission opportunities. Saturday August 1st (a week from tomorrow) is your opportunity to let the light of Jesus shine through you. We have options for both in-building and in-the-community projects. Away from the church options include The Sharing Shed, Food Bag packing at Fort Zumwalt West, and a new ministry opportunity at Gardening @ St. Louis. For more information and/or to sign-up go to either the SunRise website or app and click on the “events” page.

In our pick verses today, John hears the sound of the third trumpet which is followed by the releasing of the third plague on the earth. This plague fell on one-third of the earth’s freshwater supplies of rivers and springs. This judgement which affects the drinking water on earth is horrible because of the deaths that will follow, but still not God’s total and final judgement on the unrepentant. Accompanying this plague is a star identified as “wormwood”. This is the name of a plant that creates a bitter taste and is referenced in other places in the Bible – Proverbs, Jeremiah, Lamentations, and Amos. For John’s readers this creates a picture of the bitterness of sorrow and death.

Blessings
