Tuesday – August 1st - Revelation 9:3-4 ------
9:3) Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4) They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THERE ARE NO TRIVIAL ASSIGNMENTS IN THE WORK OF THE LORD.*
Happy Tuesday and happy first day of August to you! What a great way to start off a new month with such a powerful inspirational thought for us to consider. I am reminded that the economy of Heaven is far different than the economy of earth. What we may value as important, God sees as only trivial, and what we may put in the category of trivial sits on the top of God’s priority list. We humans tend to give great value to those who have positions of prestige – actors/actresses, music stars, professional athletes - while at the same time we tend to diminish the unknowns as being “trivial”. But to God, kingdom work is all the same because all work leads to populating the Kingdom of Heaven. Embrace today what God is calling you to do, it may not be glamorous or out in front of people, but it is still necessary for the kingdom.
In our pick verses today, John witnesses the results of the angel opening the bottomless pit from yesterday’s readings. A hoard of something like locusts, reminiscent of the plague of locusts on Egypt and Joel’s prediction of a plague of locusts that are released before the day of God’s judgment, are released upon the earth. But the locusts of the book of Revelation are demonic forces, released from their place of confinement in the bottomless pit. Real locusts have the ability to destroy plant life, but these demonic beings are sent to torture the ungodly who do not have God’s seal upon them. Once again, we see how those who are repenting and coming to faith in Jesus will be spared the brunt of these end-time judgments.
Blessings
