Hello to Friday! On the busy SunRise schedule for Saturday is our first of the month Cars and Coffee gathering in the McClure Parking lot from 8am – 10pm. SunRise hosts this event each first Saturday from April to October. No matter your favorite generation or type of vehicle I am sure there will be something that represents you dream car era. Come and stroll through the lot and strike up conversations with folks from all over the St. Louis metro area. Coffee and Bridge Bread Cini-Minis are available admission is free to show your car or to walk and view.
Today’s pick verse is from John’s vision of things to come as observed in his close-up view from Heaven. What John is now picturing through this narrowly focused lens, is as symbolic as was his vision of Jesus in chapter one. The image he observes in the next five verses is nightmarish and repulsive. If you have ever wondered what demons look like here is the most detailed description Scripture gives us, but remember it is all figurative since it is based John’s use of the phrase “looked like”. These locust/scorpion demons “looked like” horses prepared for battle. Battle horses are bed for strength and equipped with bridle and saddle. This was no slipshod broken-down image of an old horse, but one strong and ready to carry a well-trained warrior into battle. Their crowns of gold symbolize victory, in that they will succeed completely in their appointed mission. The cunning and intelligence in these creatures were symbolic in that they had faces that resembled that of humans.
