Tuesday – August 8th – Revelation 9:12 -----
9:12) One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE POSSIBILITIES OF PRAYER RUN PARALLEL WITH THE PROMISES OF GOD.*
Hello Tuesday! I think it would be beneficial to take a moment and re-read our inspirational thought for today. Prayer is an important part of the life of a Christian because it is our direct communication with God. But what we pray can make all the difference in the world as to how we experience the results of our prayers. God has promised He would take care of our every need. However, those things we wish for or desire outside of our basic list of needs – “our wants” – is where we can form an incorrect view of God answering prayers. Of course, the devil must get involved - he works to convince us that we deserve the list of items on our “want list”, and then when we don’t get them then he suggests that God is limited and powerless. Let’s work this week to redefine the difference between wants and needs and then see how many promises God keeps when we pray.
In our pick verse today, we read John’s simple transition between the fifth and sixth trumpets as he prepares us for the horrors of the two remaining trumpets of doom. The angel’s pronouncement of the first “woe” having passed is signal that the worst is yet to come. The word “woe” indicated severe suffering and distress for those who hear it. The tribulation is a seven-year period of severe end-times suffering and distress. The second half of this era, called the great tribulation, increases the severity of God’s judgement on unbelievers as He pours out His wrath upon them. The only escape from any of these “woes” is to turn and confess Jesus as your savior. Sad to think that it will take something like what we are reading to convince people to believe in Jesus. Even sadder to think that even after the coming two “woes” some people will still resist the invitation of God.
Blessings
