Thursday – August 10th – Revelation 9:14 -----
9:14) saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
FAITH, LIKE A MUSCLE, GROWS BY STRETCHING.*
Good Thursday to you!!! I think the intent of today’s inspirational thought is to remind us that personal faith comes by way of it being grown through testing. I am not sure if “stretching” is the best choice of words, at least from my own experiences. When I think of stretching, I think of what I do at the end of a workout to slow down and catch my breath. While I know this is an important and necessary part of strength training, I can’t quit elevate it to the same intensity of the rest of the workout. I hope you get where I am coming from. For me, my muscles grow best (at least in theory) when I put extreme pressure on them. And in the same way my faith grows when it is under extreme pressure. But either way nothing grows in the resting stage, in fact both muscles and faith decline when not being worked out at all.
In our pick verse today, John records the conversation between God and the sixth angel of doom. With the sounding of the sixth trumpet, a second hoard of demonic hosts are released upon the earth. It is pictured by John as an invading army from beyond the river Euphrates. The Euphrates was the ancient boundary between Assyria and Israel and one John’s readers would fully understand the significance of its origin. Once again, Revelation reminds us that God is ultimately in control over all these events, allowing or announcing each one as it prepares to unfold. At no point in the end-times is evil allowed to run entirely on its own course or allowed to operate out of the control of God’s perfect plan.
Blessings
