Friday – August 11th – Revelation 9:15 -----
9:15) So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THERE IS NO MORE DIFFICULT PRAYER TO PRAY SINCERELY THAN “THY WILL BE DONE.”*
Welcome to Friday! In case you are wondering about the current source of our inspirational thoughts, the Daily Walk Bible has us reading from the later parts the Old Testament book of the prophet Jeremiah. Knowing that helps understand the relevancy of the use of today’s inspirational thought. The people of Jeremiah’s day had a lot of “prayers” being offered up that sound more like “my will be done” than requesting that God’s will be done. Maybe the people back then were not that much different than the people of today. I must admit that some of my prayers sound more like ransom notes to God – you do what I ask, and I will continue to believe in you, but if you don’t do as I say than we are finished. This is simply a modern-day version of outcome-based faith. Jesus, at the end of His earthly life, prayed before His arrest that God’s will be done. As a follower of Jesus should we not model that same prayer life?
In our pick verse today from John’s vision of end-time events, we are introduced to the four angels set over the invading demons from the east. Verse fourteen indicates these four angels were “bound”, meaning that they are fallen angels, also known as demons. This verse reports that the four demonic angels had been prepared precisely for the time of their release. The words, “hour”, “day”, “month”, “year” are not intended to be added together into some exact amount of time. Rather, this expression means God had prepared them for the precise instant of the demon’s release – for this exact moment in human history. The sole purpose of these demons’ release was to kill one-third of the remaining unbelievers left on earth. This act of God fulfils prophecy found in Daniel 12.
Blessings
