Sunday – August 13th – Revelation 9:17      -----

9:17) And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A CHRISTIAN SHOULD SHOW MORE CONCERN FOR PEOPLE THAN FOR CREEDS.*

Happy and Blessed Sunday to you! Our inspirational thought is perfect for our consideration on this day of worship. Creeds are important because they remind us of what we are to believe as followers of Jesus. Without creeds, especially the traditional creeds of the early church, we lose out on the basic outline of who God is and what is God’s plan for humanity. At the same time a creed without action is what James states in his epistle as being faith without works. Developing a true concern for people becomes the path God uses for us put our creeds into action. The important thing is for us to learn how to find the perfect balance for creeds to hold us accountable and for our actions to produce fruit for the Kingdom of Heaven.

In our pick verse today, John is describing the demonic army as it fulfils its task of killing one-third of the earth’s population. In this verse John describes in graphic detail the warriors as wearing breastplates mixed with the color of fire, sapphire, and sulfur, roughly the equivalent of red, dark blue, and bright yellow. Such radiant colors would be seen far off in the distance adding to the fear of the people. The heads of the horses resemble the heads of lions. These demonic beasts are very similar to the creatures that were released from the Abyss in verses 7-8. The fire, smoke, and brimstone armor of the demons are the characteristics most associated with our image of hell. Sadness awaits those who fail to repent and turn to God.

Blessings
