10:1) I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire.

Wow Wednesday to you! Speaking of “wow”, that is one of our two Wednesday morning women’s Bible studies that are about to resume in a couple of weeks from today. Yes, fall classes are quickly arriving and we don’t want you to miss out on a single session. WOW (Women on Wednesday) will begin meeting on Wednesday September 6th from 9:30am – 11am. In our pick verse today, John opens the tenth chapter of the book of Revelation with a two-part pause in the opening of the seven seals. The first interlude in this pause focuses on the prophetic Word of God as it applies to the first century readers as seen and experienced by John. Without warning, John’s perspective now shifts from Heaven to earth. Up until this point John’s view was in the heavenly realms, but now he is firmly planted on earth, and he becomes personally involved in the divine drama unfolding before us. The mighty angel John observes descending from Heaven is described in more detail than any of the other angels in this book. His robe, face, legs, and feet are all symbolic of God’s unmatched authority and glorious power under which this angel operates. The “little scroll” term is used by John as a distinguisher between the seven scrolls of great judgement. The contents of the little scroll will be revealed to John (and us) going forward.
