Thursday – August 31st – Revelation 11:2 -----
11:2) But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
BIBLICAL PROPHECY IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE FUTURE; IT HOLDS TREMENDOUS PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS FOR TODAY.*
Hello Thursday! Let’s keep the ball rolling with upcoming September events at SunRise. Youth need to mark their calendars for Friday September 8th from 10:30pm to 6:30am Saturday September 9th for the annual fall Youth Lock-In. Yes, our youth (along with our adult chaperones) will be hanging out at the Chesterfield Athletic Center for an overnight of fun, games, and fellowship. The cost is $20 per youth and the signup sheet is on the events page of either the SunRise website or the SunRise app. Any adults that want to join in as a chaperone please contact the Family Ministry office.
As we enter this eleventh chapter John begins to add in a series of numbers and instruction that will cause us to pause and consider their implications (both real and symbolic) for these original readers, as well as how they are still relevant as we wait for his vision to be fulfilled in our day and time. In the instructions for John to measure the Temple he was instructed not to include the court of the Gentiles. For first century Christians this was a symbolic reference to the non-believers. The number of forty-two months is a three-and-a-half-year period equivalent to the 1,260 days listed in verse three and the “time and times and half a time we will read in 12:4. This period symbolizes Satan’s opposition to the church throughout the gospel age but especially during the great tribulation at the end of time. Forty-two months shows that his time of opposition is only temporary and will, despite the suffering incurred, soon be over.
Blessings
