Wednesday – September 6th – Revelation 11:8     -----

11:8) And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE JUDGMENT OF GOD SHALL TURN TOPSY-TURVY THE JUDGMENTS OF PEOPLE.*

Welcome to Wednesday! This middle of the week arrived early, simply because of the time off for the Monday holiday. Mid-week also means tonight is the Family Ministry Aloha Bingo night kicking off all the fall season events at SunRise. You are invited to join us, regardless of age, for an evening of fun, fellowship, and bingo. The excitement starts at 6:30p in the SunRise worship space.

In our pick verse today, John continues to describe the gruesome details of the deaths of the two witnesses of Revelation. In the ancient world, refusal to bury the dead showed utter contempt and lack of any respect for the deceased. While the exact location of this great city where the bodies of the prophets lie in the street is debated, it’s correlation to Sodom and Egypt suggests the evil within. Sodom became the great example of a sinful, pleasure-filled place destined for destruction. Egypt is noted throughout the Bible as the place not only where God rescued the Hebrews from slavery, but also as the kingdom many of the rulers of Judah and Israel turned to for help from invading armies. God power and promise of protection was rejected while Egypt was unwisely trusted. He sinfulness of both examples are symbolic of why Jesus was crucified.
