13:1) Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.

Welcome Tuesday! What is happening at SunRise you ask? This Saturday is a busy day for a variety of things, and I want to once again put in a plug for the Sharing Shed volunteer opportunity this month. The Sharing Shed is a wonderful local organization here in O'Fallon that SunRise participates in on the first Saturday of every month. If you can spare a few hours helping others by sorting, organizing and helping clients pick out furniture and other home necessities, please lend a hand. *This Saturday there is a need for a few extra men to help lift sine heavier furniture onto a truck. Starting time is 9am for all volunteers. Please go to the events page through either the SunRise app or website.
In our pick verse for today, John’s vision of end times shifts to the seashore for the appearance of a new creature ready to take its turn on behalf of the forces of evil. Interestingly this first of two monsters in this chapter comes forth from the sea. The uncharted oceans held great terrors for the ancient people, and storms at sea were often seen as symbols of evil. The ten horns and seven heads of this beast mirror those of its master the dragon (12:3). The ten crowns signify the demonic royalty status of this beast. The blasphemous name on each head suggests its claim to divine status within the kingdom of hell who is to serve fully as a earthly representative of Satan.
