In our pick verse today, John identifies a new beast coming, this time, from the earth. In this case, John uses only a few words to describe this new monster. The simple description is that this beast has two horns like that of a lamb. This is the devil’s attempt to mirror the image of Jesus as a way to further fool the people on earth. However, when this earth-beast speaks it is obvious that he serves at the bidding of Satan. In His sermon on the mount, Jesus had warned of these false prophets when we stated that they will come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. The closer we remain to the heart of God the easier it is for us to hear the falsehood of these false prophets.
