Sunday – October 22nd – Revelation 14:4-5 -----
14:4) These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.
5) And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A STEWARD IS MORE A GIVER THAN A GUARDIAN.*
Happy Sunday to you! What a great day to worship God and to give thanks for all we have been blessed with in our lives. We also should give God thanks for all the opportunities we have been blessed with to share our faith with others. I wonder what our batting averages are – not if we are successful in our witness – when comparing the number of opportunities given to the number of times we actually act on them. I probably would not even make it onto a “seize the opportunity” hall of fame ballot, let alone score high enough to be elected. Maybe a good exercise this week would be to practice opening our eyes to where God is already at work and then pray that we see what God wants us to do.
In our pick verses today, John continues to record his vision of the many aspects of the actions of the redeemed believers. Verse four is one of the most puzzling in Revelation to understand. The apparent mixing of male/female metaphors referenced in the first sentence creates confusion as to intended meaning. While it is easy to get hung up on attempting to figure out some 1st century meaning, the bigger picture approach of both verse four and five lends itself to a much easier answer. The relationship John is speaking of is a symbolic spiritual relationship between Jesus and His followers. We are to give ourselves wholeheartedly to the cause of Christ that the devil has no room to operate in our hearts or minds. In the Old Testament both idolatry and adultery implied an unfaithful heart and a distracted mind. The redeemed of the Lord are able to stand before the throne of God blameless through the blood of Christ.
Blessings
