Happy Friday! Wow!!! December 1st is here, and we are on a double countdown to both Christmas and 2024. This is the time of year when many folks reflect on the things they had hoped to accomplish, planned to change, or wished to excel. With only thirty days remaining some folks will hit the accelerator, while others will pull back and wait for next year to try again. I hope you can say that your growth as a disciple of Jesus is trending toward the positive side of goals set. Now is the perfect time to order you Daily Walk Bible, or another read-the-Bible-in-a-year program. Add in your prayers for the rest of the month that the enemy will not be successful in throwing obstacles at your Bible reading plans in the coming year.
In our pick verse today, John witnesses the seventh and final angel of wrath dispatch from the throne of Heaven. The one element that had escaped in all the other plagues was the atmosphere. Now the most necessary ingredient for human life is struck with God’s seventh bowl of wrath. It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to deduce that when air becomes hostile to humanity all is doomed. This reality is confirmed by the loud voice of God announcing that “it is done”. Reminiscent of Jesus’ last words from the cross, there ironically exists freedom and victory for believers in what is doom and death for rebellious non-believers in Jesus. God’s promise is that each person will individually receive their due reward for personal decisions about Jesus.
