Sunday – December 10th – Revelation 17:4 -----
17:4) The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A FIELD THAT HAS RESTED GIVES A BOUNTIFUL CROP.*
Happy Sunday to you! My friends, we are just two weeks away from Christmas Eve. Yes, it is quickly approaching, so now is the time to begin making plans for your Christmas Eve worship experience with SunRise. Our in-building times will be 10am, 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm. 10am will be our traditional music service, while the other three times will feature the same songs as 10am, but with a modern music sound. Communion will be served at all worship services. The 5pm service will be our only candlelight service of the day. The 1pm service will be live-streamed and then available for on-demand viewing after 2pm.
In our pick verse today, John begins to describe in detail the woman riding the great red beast in the desert. In contrast to the white robes worn by the followers of Jesus, the woman was decked out in robes of purple and scarlet. In John’s time, these colorful dyes were very expensive and typically reserved for only the clothes of the wealthiest of people. The gold cup in her hand, on the outside, fit in with the appearance of riches, yet the inside was filled with every abomination and repulsive thing known to God. Ever since the garden of Eden, forbidden fruit has looked beautiful to the eye, yet hides the unavoidable poison of sin and death. John is seeing this masquerade as it is truly seen from Heaven. May we be able to see what John sees and step away from the forbidden fruit the devil presents to us in our lives.
Blessings
