THERE IS A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ACTIVITY AND PROGRESS.*
Good Sunday to you! Our inspirational thought for today helps set the tone for this third week of the season of Advent. With only a handful of days remaining in 2023, we can begin thinking about how we might live into the suggestion contained in our inspirational thought. How might we better align our lives to move from a life filled with activities to one that is intentionally moving forward in strategic discipleship growth. In other words, how might our efforts produce more discernable fruit for the Kingdom of Heaven and in our own personal relationship with Jesus? Something to think about on this beautiful day to worship our creator and savior.
In our pick verse today, we are introduced to an additional king as part of this vision. When the seventh and final kingdom (the seventh head of the monster) finally arrives, its leader will be an eight king, the final personal Antichrist. If you are confused by this interesting twist, rest assured you are not alone. Scholars suggest that the final Antichrist will “belong” to the seven. That is, he will be kind of a reappearance of one of the earlier heads. This could be similar to John the Baptist as he was sort of a second coming of the prophet Elijah; he came in the power and spirit of Elijah. While biblical scholars have scrambled to make connections with this mysterious leader, the important fact is that his reign will both be short, and it will be completely destroyed.
