Welcome to Tuesday! You folks are knocking the ball out of the park for our Advent food drive. Your contributions over the first three weeks of Advent have gone a long way in filling the shelves of our Food-4-Hope food pantry. Each week SunRise sends out about three dozen bags of groceries (each bag has about 18 pounds of food items) to the local schools for distribution. I am excited about this coming Sunday as it is Christmas Eve, so we will have four opportunities to collect dinner items for this week. Please bring any or all items from the following list: Hamburger Helper, Canned Chicken, Canned Tuna, Pasta Sauce/Noodles, Taco Kits, and/or Instant Potatoes.
In our picked verse today, John continues recording the information he is receiving from the angel who is currently accompanying him on this portion of his vision. In this vision so far, John has been shown the wicked harlot’s hatred and wrath for the followers of Jesus. Now the beast-king’s hatred also spews out on full display for John to see. Evil’s focus now shifts from the followers of Jesus to its true enemy Jesus Himself. Thus, the beast and his kings unite with one purpose in mind. They will conspire together by giving all their power and authority to the beast in a joint effort to oppose the Lamb.
