Friday – December 22nd – Revelation 17:16 -----
17:16) The scarlet beast and his ten horns all hate the prostitute. They will strip her naked, eat her flesh, and burn her remains with fire.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
LAY HOLD OF THE BIBLE UNTIL THE BIBLE LAYS HOLD OF YOU.*
Happy Friday to you! Our inspirational thought today is a great way to prepare ourselves not only for the Christmas countdown but also as we begin thinking about next year. Spending time in the Word is not only a good thing to do, but it is vital for our growth as followers of Jesus. Once again, I would encourage you to take a moment to develop a strategy for reading the Bible in 2024. Maybe it is the huge commitment to read through the entire Bible in 365 days. Maybe it is reading a chapter each day and letting the Holy Spirit make it relevant for you at that moment. Spending time reading scripture is always time well spent.
In our pick verse today, John continues to write what he is hearing from the angel escorting him through the future. While the current focus is on the wicked prostitute, the beast and his minions return for today’s drama. While it is expected that the Antichrist and his federation of kings amassed to do war against the Lamb, John did not anticipate that the beast with ten horns would come after the prostitute. One thing that we can note from throughout the world’s history is that evil will often turn on itself, carrying with it the seeds of its own destruction. We can be reassured for not only these closing events of human history, but also, we should find comfort that during our own time that everything happens within a season. While evil may rear its ugly head today, tomorrow brings a new day and a new season. As followers of Christ we must strive to display patience and confidence as our silent witness.
Blessings
