Sunday – December 24th – Revelation 17:18 -----
17:18) And this woman you saw in your vision represents the great city that rules over the kings of the world.”
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE ARE NOT CHRIST’S LAWYERS; WE ARE HIS WITNESSES.*
Welcome to Christmas Eve. Our inspirational thought for today fits perfectly with this high holy day on the church calendar. Christmas Eve is an opportunity for each of us to personally reconnect with the birth of Jesus. Like the shepherds who left their fields to go and see the great thing the angels announced, we return to the manager each and every year to get yet another glimpse of God’s gift of salvation. Also like the shepherds, we leave the manger with a word of witness on our lips. Who might you tell the Good News of Jesus’ birth? I am sure God will provide an audience of even one person this week who needs to know the reason for this season.
In our pick verse today, we close out chapter seventeen of the book of Revelation. In case you are wondering we have five chapters left to finish out our walk through the Bible. This verse is the fifth and final time that the interpreting angel explains something John is seeing. Lest John had missed any of the previous clues, the angel wanted to reiterate that the woman was the great city that ruled over the kings of the earth. In John’s day – the time of the sixth head of the monster – the form of the woman was Rome. During the days of the seventh head of the monster, another great and wicked city will rise. Whenever and wherever that geographical location will be found, it is written in scripture that, like those before, it will fall into the judgement of God.
Blessings
