18:8) Therefore, these plagues will overtake her in a single day— death and mourning and famine. She will be completely consumed by fire, for the Lord God who judges her is mighty.”

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE BEST WAY TO PUT AN IDEA ACROSS IS TO WRAP IT UP IN A PERSON.*

Good Thursday to you! I am excited that we are less than a week away from resuming our Journey Of A Lifetime Bible study and with it our Family Ministry Seeds programing on Wednesday evenings. We kick off the January semester on Wednesday the 10th at 6:30pm with a study of the New Testament book of Hebrews. If you would like to join this study, you can show up on Wednesday and receive information on ordering your study materials. This current semester will include the five weeks before Ash Wednesday. The spring semester will begin on Wednesday March 6th with a six-week study of the Book of Revelation.

Daily Walk Bible readings:
            Thursday January 4th – Genesis 10-11
             Friday January 5th – Genesis 12-14

In our pick verse today, John concludes the words of divine judgement against the figurative city of Babylon. So packed are these words we will cover them in two parts. Within this verse the first of four times in this chapter that the phrase “one day” or “one hour” notes the speed with which the final plagues of God’s judgements will fall. The prediction of death, mourning, and famine tells the sudden impact of the disaster on the city’s citizens. The prophecy that she will be consumed by fire describes the complete and total devastation of the city’s buildings. Again, all of the culmination of all seven bowl judgements of chapter sixteen are contained within this one verse.

Blessings
  Pastor Jim
